I just can’t seem to get my groove this week.
I call this a case of the Mondays, but this week it’s also a case of the Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays! It’s one of those weeks where the work day seems to drag. I think i saw a meme describing this month as January 345th and it was spot on! In terms of work, I’m thankful for the slow pace, but in terms of personal time the evenings fly by in the blink of an eye! Each night I have high hopes to accomplish so many things, like reading and writing, maybe even fold a load of laundry or two (this really is a pipe dream, if it doesn’t get done on the weekend, we sift through the piles of clean laundry all week until it once again becomes dirty laundry…such a vicious cycle) Once I get lunches made and shower, the evening feels like a wash. Truth be told, I started this post on Monday night and I never got around to finishing more than a few sentences before I called it a night at 9:30pm! Yes, you read that right 9:30pm! So, I’ve promised myself that I will sit down and at least try to get something written.
This is my longwinded way of trying to figure out the best way to carve out some me time! I’ve got a great winding down routine working for me at night where I feel like I’ve been able to care for my skin and hair (more on that on a later post) but now I find that I want more! I want more time to write and read. My husband is great at finding that time after the kids go to bed, but I just can’t stay up past 11pm. So, I’m throwing it out there…how do mama’s find time to do the things they love? I know that the time when my children are young is passing by like a flash, so I want to be present for them, but I also am at a point where I need to get back to doing the things I love!
Oh time…how I wish we had more than 24 hours in a day and more than two days in a weekend!
This week I plan on trying to carve out some time to go for a few evening walks (my favourite activity ever) and read a few pages of my book each night before bed. My daughter will laugh at this because the last time I sat down to read, I had my bookmark in the wrong spot and spent 30 minutes reading the wrong chapter! She still thinks that’s the funniest thing I’ve ever done!
I guess the best way to do anything is to just do it! Even if it’s baby steps, it’s still a step!
