Make up removal and skin cleansing

On this rainy Sunday morning, as the kids are cuddled on the couch watching tv, I thought I’d share part one of my daily skincare/makeup/ hair routines. Recently I’ve come to the realization that the simple act of taking care of my skin is a form of self care. I’m not sure why it took so long for that lightbulb to go off, but it finally did. Once it did, taking care of my skin no longer felt like a chore.  As I’m an evening showerer (not even sure if this is a word?!?) most of this routine happens before bed. After my shower I wash my face and start taking off my make up with the Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser. I tend towards having dry skin and this cleaner is so gentle that it doesn’t aggravate my skin. (It’s also gentle enough for my 10-year-old to use.) Whatever remaining make up is left (it’s always the mascara) I remove with Bioderma H20 Micellar Make Up Remover. I’ve been doing this part of the routine for over a year now and I have to say my face always feels clean and fresh and never dry. The best part is all these products are available at Shoppers Drug Mart! I usually stock up when they are on sale. Keep your eye out for The Bioderma 2-pack which is an amazing deal!

Up next…part 2 of the self care routine!
