Skin Care

Here’s part 2 of my routine. I usually do this part every night, unless I just don’t feel like it or fall asleep while putting my youngest to sleep. Once that sleep hits, it usually takes hurricane force winds to wake me up!

After my shower and removal of my make up. I apply the Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic. It’s my first time using an exfoliating tonic and I have to admit I was a bit nervous. My skin is on the sensitive side and when I saw that there was 5% glycolic acid I was a bit apprehensive. But I eased it into my routine, by using it every other night. Every time I use it, I’m shocked to see how much extra junk it cleans off my skin.

After the Glow Tonic (which you can find at Shoppers Drug Mart) I apply niacidimide. I use the Ordinary brand because the price is beyond reasonable and there’s a location at my local mall, you can all buy it on Well.ca .

I let the niacidimide soak in while I get my PJs on. Then it’s time to apply the squalane. Again, I chose to go with the Ordinary brand because of the cost. It absorbs pretty quickly and doesn’t leave an oily residue on my skin.

The final step I do while I’m lying in bed and winding down for the day is gua sha! I bought this rose quartz gua sha from Kung Fu Apothecary. It comes with a handy card to explain the steps for using the gua sha and it is so easy. If I can do it, anyone can. I was introduced to the concept of gua sha months ago when I injured my elbow. I had a strained elbow and my acupuncturist used gua sha on it and within a week it was feeling better than it had in ages.

This whole process takes about 10 minutes in total depending on how long I gua sha my face. Sometime I do it a little longer because it is relaxing.

I am thinking of added one more item from Drunk Elephant to my skin care regime. I’ve heard good things about the Shaba Complex Eye Serum, but there are two things holding me back:

  1. The fact that I just splurged on a summer scent (more on that in another post)!
  2. I feel like I’ve got a good thing going with the products that I have now and I don’t want to mess it up!

Thoughts, should I add the Drunk Elephant eye serum to my nightly routine?
